To create a sustainable & regenerative, equitable & just, thriving world for all, we need “all hands on deck”: engagement from as many individuals, teams, organizations, communities, and movements as possible — across all sectors, on every continent.

But what to do? Where to start? In seeking to be sustainable in an unsustainable world, in seeking to foster equity in a world full of inequities, how can we know which actions will make a difference?

One Thriving Planet identifies evidence-based approaches and solutions, and then brings together the human, technological, financial, and other resources to take them to maximum scale, with velocity. 

Our partners are some of the world’s top practitioners across a range of disciplines. These include activists and organizers, artists, coaches, consultants, Indigenous leaders, lawyers, measurement experts, scientists, and many more. Our teams sometimes function within one discipline — for example, a team of scientists working on biodiversity issues. We also work in multidisciplinary teams, leveraging whatever expertise is needed to support a client’s situation — for example, in a city’s campaign to reduce its ecological footprint, we might deploy activists and organizers to support local grassroots organizers; in tandem with our artists creating works across multiple media to move, touch, and inspire; along with our scientists assessing the health of municipal and regional ecosystems; along with our coaches and consultants supporting individuals, teams and organizations, to achieve superior performance.

However, as a species and as a planet, we’re in unchartered territory with the threats to humanity and all life in the biosphere – and with the possibilities for transformation before us. We often don’t know which actions will produce the needed changes in behaviors and systems. So, in addition to using evidence-based approaches, we also support mindful experimentation with solid development of theories of change, action-learning practices, and more. In particular, we look for bold actions that hold a reasonable promise of creating significant impacts, and we orchestrate the deployment of resources needed to bring them to fruition.
