Global Footprint Network (GFN) will anchor One Thriving Planet’s measurements function.

GFN is a sustainability think-tank that makes planetary constraints relevant to decision-making. It was founded by Mathis Wackernagel, who, along with Bill Rees, created the concept and metric of footprinting in the early 1990s. The ecological footprint allows individuals, organizations, communities, regions, nations, and continents to compare their resource demands against the capacity of a regional ecosystem, or the planet itself, to regenerate from those demands. 

GFN’s largest engagement campaign is its annual Earth Overshoot Day. In 2020, the campaign, which started in 2006, reached more than 4 billion media impressions in more than 120 countries.

African Publishers Network (APNET) is the oldest and one of the largest publisher associations in Africa. Established in 1992 to strengthen Indigenous publishing throughout Africa, APNET is a pan-African association of National Publishers’ Associations (NPAs) that builds the capacity of African publishers and the publishing industry through advocacy, training, trade promotion, information sharing, research and documentation, and international relations. APNET’s vision is to transform African people through books. 

Our Regenerative Africa Library aims to be the world's foremost repository for all things related to sustainability and regeneration concerning Africa and to be an exemplar for similar initiatives worldwide. Our library was launched in October 2024. As we race to the planetary tipping point of 2029 (when we’re currently set to exhaust the planet’s carbon budget, risking irreversible locking in global cataclysmic climate conditions), we intend to launch similar libraries on every continent.

Founded in November 1989, the Pan-African Writers Association (PAWA) is a Ghana-based cultural institution born out of the larger movement of Pan-Africanism. The government of Ghana granted PAWA full diplomatic status in 1992. It is an umbrella organization for writers' associations across Africa and the Diaspora. Established at its inaugural congress in 1989, its mission is to strengthen the cultural and economic bonds between African people, drawing on the continent's rich and diverse heritage.

Our Regenerative Africa Writing initiative, co-led by PAWA, seeks to highlight the role of literature in addressing sustainability and regeneration in Africa. Through our annual Call for Literary Works, we aim to showcase the power of African writers in advocating for a sustainable future. Finalist works will be featured in our Regenerative Africa Library and in both digital and print anthologies.
